Refactoring Roadmaps¶
Implementation Roadmap¶
Phase 1: Quick Wins (1-2 weeks) ✅ DONE¶
[x] Extract HTTP headers to constants ✅
[x] Fix import ordering ✅
[x] Remove unused imports ✅
[ ] Extract magic values to constants
[ ] Improve exception handling
Phase 2: Foundation (2-3 weeks)¶
[ ] Create specialized endpoint base classes
[ ] Implement configuration object
[ ] Extract sync/async duplication
[ ] Add error registry
Phase 3: Architecture (3-4 weeks)¶
[ ] Split ListGetEndpointMixin (SRP)
[ ] Implement dependency injection container
[ ] Refactor Form Designer integration
[ ] Add protocol-based interfaces
Phase 4: Polish (1-2 weeks)¶
[ ] Refactor complex functions
[ ] Comprehensive testing of refactored code
[ ] Update documentation
[ ] Performance benchmarking
Testing Strategy¶
For each refactoring: 1. Write characterization tests before changing code 2. Refactor incrementally - one change at a time 3. Run full test suite after each change 4. Check test coverage - maintain ≥90% 5. Performance test critical paths

Success Metrics¶
Code Duplication: Reduce from ~40% to <10% in endpoints
Test Coverage: Maintain ≥90%
Cyclomatic Complexity: Reduce functions >15 to <10
Documentation: 100% of public API documented
Performance: <5% overhead from refactoring
